Assistant Professor Jefferson Butler Fletcher '87, has been appointed head of the department of Comparative Literature in Columbia University. After graduating from Harvard in 1887. Mr. Fletcher received the degree of A.M. in 1889, and the next year was appointed an instructor in English. This position he held until 1902, when he was made an assistant professor of Comparative Literature. Mr. Fletcher is also one of the editors of the Journal of Comparative Literature.
