Buell's choice for the quarterback position was unrivalled as was Owen's selection for fullback. The halfback positions were difficult to select from the many possibilities, including O'Hearn, Mallory, and Jordan of Yale, Crum and Cleaves of Princeton, and Chapin and Gehrke of Harvard.
