...probably asking yourself, "Why in hell would anyone be so stupid as to turn in the same paper three years in a row?" The point is not so much that it was the same paper, it is that the paper was successful, and that is what really counts here after all. For Harvard's one, mainline, true-to-life tradition is success. That is what a great number of your predecessors at this august institution worship as their common bond. Harvard Yearbook Publications--Some of you may have worked on your high school yearbook. In fact, you were probably the editor, and although it was a hell of a lot of work, you probably enjoyed it. But, come now, could you really see doing it again, for a bigger and more indifferent student body? HYP seems to be a real drag. ...formula for producing these "non-films" has become quite standard: find any old trashy material for a script, get an established star or two to act the parts, throw in some gratuitous sex and violence, promote the hell out of the film with catchy advertising, and just watch while the megabucks roll in. The lucrative rewards are enough to make even the most dedicated producer forget all about intelligence, talent, and artistry. The uninformed, sheepish filmgoers have only themselves to blame for shelling out millions annually on this celluloid rubbish. Supply, in this case, unfortunately responds to demand...
