...much for my good that I came to Harvard. I think there is more of real life to be found here than can possibly be in a smaller college. I have met a great many noble fellows. The whole tenor of the college seems to be that of mutual help. I could not have chosen relations more pleasant than I have here, and I am situated far more pleasantly than I had dared to hope I could be. Harvard has been grossly misrepresented and slandered in every...

...their crew. This is a new order of things which Ninety-four has established. Hitherto, freshman classes have had enough spirit and generosity to take every opportunity to support the crew. They have always made an especial point of the spring concert; have always given it their best help. The present freshman class is evidently made up of men of a different spirit from the rest of the college. ...Yale game; but nine hundred and nine can. If the nine plays a spiritless game, as has been alleged, it doesn't make matters better to sit up in your room and smoke and growl. If the college shows spirit the nine can't help but do so. One would think the whole college was trying for the glee club, the way men save their voices. I have frequently seen more enthusiasm at a funeral...

...Weld Boat House has now been open nearly a month, and is in first rate running order. An assistant has been engaged to help the men out with the boats, while the janitor has a general supervision, and devotes most of his time to keeping the boats in good repair. The club has now 32 boats of one sort and another against 11 at the same time last year, while the number of members has not increased in any such proportion. Thus there is greater opportunity for every man to get a boat without delay. To insure everyone's equal...
