Three witnesses were called yesterday in the trial in which Herbert B. Harris and Arthur K. Reading are charged with signing a false certificate in connection with the assessment as a prospective voter of W. Townsend '16, last October. District Attorney Corcoran opened the case for the government, stating that Townsend's home is in Cohasset, and that Harris swore falsely when he certified him. Bernard F. Fallow, of the Cambridge Board of Assessors, was called as the first witness for the government, and testified that Townsend, Harris, and Reading were at the office of the board of assessors...

...trial of Herbert B. Harris and Arthur K. Reading on the charge of signing a false certificate in connection with the assessment, to become a voter, of W. Townsend '16 commenced yesterday. Former Attorney General Herbert Parker, senior counsel for the defendants, moved to quash the indictment, contending that its allegations were not sufficient to establish a crime. Judge Raymond overruled Mr. Parker's motion, and after counsel had waived the reading of the indictment, Harris pleaded not guilty. No witnesses were called, but the cases were continued until tomorrow morning...
