...capsule is the result of two years of work by Surgeon Captain Charles Herbert Best, codiscoverer of insulin, and Dr. Wilder Graves Penfield, director of the Montreal Neurological Institute. Using a double-ended swinging machine designed to make even sailors seasick (TIME, July 19), they first tested 60 antiseasickness compounds, found two which had a slight effect separately, a better effect together. They added another compound that was their own idea, colored the mixture pink for the psychological effect, put the stuff up in capsules to be taken every eight hours until sea legs are attained...
...there, has to content herself with charming some comic local lackeys and an eager Broadway producer (Walter Catlett). At last, at a Butlers' Ball, she utters some high notes which pierce the heart of her brother's boss. She also sings a slice of hickory-smoked Victor Herbert and an aria from Puccini's Turandot with her familiar verve. But as the verses go on, on, on and, by way of variation, on, some customers may feel that Art is the longest distance between two points...

Suspecting that nobody would walk a mile for a Camelot he saw 16 years ago, Messrs. Fields, Rodgers & Hart have redecorated King Arthur's court - waxed the Round Table, polished the armor, restrung the harps, put a Navy uniform on the startled and startling visitor. The result, despite a slow start and a rather trying book, is a likable and lilting piece of Yankee-panky...
...fact that the U.S. Constitution has outlived practically every other written constitution of the past two centuries. But you would never know it to read the books written by the intellectuals of 1942 and 1943. Charles Beard (The Republic), Peter Drucker (The Future of Industrial Man), Hamilton Basso (Mainstream), Herbert Agar (A Time for Greatness), Henry Wallace (The Century of the Common Man), James Truslow Adams (The American), Walter Lippmann (whose The Good Society, originally published in 1937, has just been reissued with a new preface), and Isabel Paterson (The God of the Machine) have all taken part in what...
