Second source of the Protocols is an economic romance entitled Biarritz, written in 1868 by Hermann Goedsche, a German who used the pen name of Sir John Retcliffe. As a melodramatic interlude in his book Goedsche pictured a secret assemblage of the "Elect of Israel," gathered in a Prague cemetery around the tomb of a mythical "Holy Rabbi."
