...shocked to discover that, after years of tradition, months of planning and weeks of postering; after the heroic efforts of Freshman Caucus member Catherine D. Rucker '99; after the hordes of first-years streamed across the Yard to leave in their chartered trolleys--after all this, The Crimson chose to ignore one of the most important social events for a quarter of the college community and not run an article on the March 1 Freshman Formal. Has our esteemed campus newspaper decided that only upperclass events are important? Or was this just negligence? --Stephen E. Weinberg '99 The writer...
...seem tinny and false. Clinton, on the other hand, comes across as a Mandarin to Mandarins, would do better than Dole in coming across as a Talent to Talents, and might even be able to seem more like "one of us" to Lifers if Dole didn't have his heroic military service to backstop himself with his natural constituency...
...story itself is not so complex. In a town by the sea, children are being abducted. Wellesesque laboratory where he can try to extract the dreams of young children, unfortunately without success. Krank's henchmen are the fanatic...

Intent on both dazzling and punishing the viewer, Gilliam gets lost in creepy spectacle and plenty of old film clips (notably Vertigo). But at the sight of three giraffes crossing a city bridge, you'll think of a more recent movie. A bad one. In its frantic mix of chaos, carnage and zoo animals, 12 Monkeys is Jumanji...
...Nyiri's account is not the war's horrors or the coldhearted hypocrisy of the "Jewish laws" enforced by authorities in Budapest to appease the Germans and deal with the "Jewish question." It is the unsinkable humanity of his characters. Most of them aren't especially noble or heroic, but they are full of life, an important quality in a time of extermination...
