Breaking the course record by eight seconds and finishing four lengths ahead of the Yale boat, the University crew set once and forever the stamp of success upon Coach Herrick and the system which he stands for. Jumping into an early lead the University oarsmen set the pace the entire distance, gradually lengthening their lead until at the finish line three boat lengths of open water separated the shells.
