Memorial exercises in commemoration of the life and services of Colonel Thomas Wentworth Higginson '41 will be held in Sanders Theatre this evening at 8.15 o'clock. Mr. R. H. Thomas Wentworth Higginson was born in Cambridge in 1823. He graduated from College in 1841 and six years later from the Divinity School. At the outbreak of the Civil War he received a commission as captain in the 51st Regiment of Massachusetts Volunteer Militia; after three years of service he left the army with the rank of colonel. Colonel Higginson was always prominent in the field of literature, being the last survivor of the early American school of litterateurs of whom Wendell Phillips '31 and Theodore Parker '36 were such notable examples...
