This war is no different. Milosevic has been herding Albanians out of Kosovo and revived some Hitlerian atrocities to solidify his dominance in Kosovo. There have been stories about him separating the Albanians by gender to save the women and children and kill the men. He has then taken the dead men's bodies and piled them together to make "cleansing" conflagrations. The Kosovars who have escaped are now destitute and homeless, wandering into Albania and Macedonia to rest in the tents and collect the cans of baby food waiting there for their nourishment...

Milton believes the Republicans are planning to cut Medicare and Social Security with "Nazi-style economic policies" that will kill millions of people. She also says efforts to privatize prisons are the first step to concentration camps, not flinching from concluding that such proposals are Hitlerian plots by the G.O.P. Comparisons of Saddam Hussein to Hitler may be overblown. The Iraqi dictator has not built a Middle Eastern Auschwitz -- yet. But Saddam does seem to share one Hitlerian trait identified by British historian Alan Bullock: he is "consumed ((by)) the will to power in its crudest and purest form . . . power and domination for its own sake," to be expanded without limit. If Saddam is allowed to keep part of Kuwait -- and make no mistake, that is what those advocating a "diplomatic solution" are hinting at -- he will be back to take a bite out of another victim. Not right away...
