...anchored three big hits of the early '80s. But after Urban Cowboy, An Officer and a Gentleman and Terms of Endearment, her career loitered. Nobody saw Mike's Murder; nobody needed to see Legal Eagles. She was outglammed by Theresa Russell in Black Widow and nearly unrecognizable as a hobo angel in Made in Heaven...
...recent delegation of Soviet visitors to the U.S. did not tour the Pentagon or shake hands at the White House. Instead, they gravitated to a notorious hobo jungle in Santa Barbara, Calif., near Ronald and Nancy Reagan's vacation home. On a tour sponsored by International Peace Walk, Inc., a Washington organization, ten Soviets accepted an invitation last week to lunch at a scruffy bivouac tucked between Santa Barbara's railroad yards and beachfront...
Actu'lly, th' funniest part of the show is th' costumes. I liked Weston's hobo outfit that makes him look like Emmett Kelly Jr., Wesley's jeans that sit too low in th' seat and that zip instead of button, Ella's sensible shoes with heels th' size of hockey pucks, Emma's cute little shitkickers and Ellis' golden drugstorecowboy suit. I 'specially liked what th' two thugs (Laurence Thomsen n' Eric Oleson) wear: plaid bellbottoms n' white chaps, respectively (n' the yo-yo is a nice touch, Laurence). Not too accurate--no self-respectin' Westerner would be caught...

A tramp's poem recommends making mulligan stew by putting "Whatever you've got/ In the pot/ Heat it 'til it's hot/ Eat it." Williams improves on the formula. He keeps a store of spice...
After a restless night in a patch of salt cedar scrub near the westbound line, home and family beckon. The three grimy hobo-hobbyists trek to the old Yuma prison for some middle-class sightseeing. Well-groomed tourists stare uncomfortably. Afterward, westbound freights are said to brake for a curve and easy boarding just past the Colorado River. Eight hours later, when the tourists are having dinner, the hobo-hobbyists are still waiting for a slow freight...
