...Brown hockey team defeated Harvard yesterday afternoon on Franklin Field in an interesting but rather one sided match. Two halves of twenty minutes each were played, Brown scoring two goals in the first, and four in the second. Harvard came nearest scoring about the middle of the second half, when Beardsell made a very close try for goal. Goodridge played a hard, fast game at forward, while Russell's work in goal was particularly creditable. Brown's superiority lay in her team play, which was remarkably good. This is that Holmes Field, or some other suitable place, be flooded and made into a skating rink for the use of the students only, and also for the ice hockey team to practice on at stated times. Nothing could be easier than to construct such a rink on Holmes Field which, naturally low, would adapt itself splendidly to the purpose, and I should think that there would be no great difficulty in obtaining the necessary water from the Cambridge water works...
Though the Canadian game of ice hockey which has been introduced this year instead of polo has aroused considerable interest, it has scarcely received the general support that could be wished. This is possibly due to the inconvenience of going some distance to practice, and to the inevitable irregularity of practice owing to weather changes...
