...teams were formed in the second outdoor hockey practice of the year held on Artificial Pond yesterday afternoon. The practice consisted in preliminary goal shooting by the forwards, followed by a 35-minute line-up in which the first team defeated the second by the score of 3 to 2. The second goal scored by the first team was won after three clever passes, but the other two goals were the direct results of scrimmages. All the men showed a tendency to play an individual games, this fault being especially noticeable in the Freshmen, who although fast skaters, are inexperienced...
...first outdoor hockey practice of the year was held on Artificial Pond yesterday afternoon. In a 40-minute line-up between the first and second teams, the first team succeeded in scoring three goals to the second's one. A game was also played between a third and fourth team. The general play was spirited, but the passing and shooting, for goals was poor. The inaccurate shooting, how ever, may be accounted for by the change from the Gymnasium floor to the rough ice. The first and second teams lined up as follows: FIRST TEAM. SECOND TEAM. Pell...
Short practice was given the University hockey squad yesterday afternoon in the basement of the Gymnasium. The men showed some improvement in shooting, the puck as a rule, rising fairly high, and the direction being accurate. The game with Brookline, scheduled for this afternoon, has been cancelled. If possible the practice today will be held on Artificial Pond...
Forty-one men reported at the first hockey practice, which was held yesterday afternoon in the basement of the Gymnasium. The forwards practiced in shooting, giving special attention to direction, and the defence practiced stopping the puck. As long as practice is held in the Gymnasium the work will be similar to that held yesterday afternoon. When the squad gets on the ice, however, short scrimmages will be held, and the coach will thus be afforded a better opportunity to judge the merits of the men. There will probably be no cut in the squad until after the Christmas recess...
Practice for the University hockey squad will begin this afternoon, probably on the handball courts in the rear of the Hemenway gymnasium. The work will be elementary, consisting in shooting for the forwards and practice in stopping the puck for the points and goalkeepers. As very few candidates have handled in their names, all men, especially Freshmen, who have played hockey, are urged to report this afternoon. If the weather permits, practice will be held on the ice, in which case a bulletin will be posted in Leavitt & Peirce's before 2 o'clock...
