...Boston Athletic Association is to hold an invitation meet in the gymnasium on the evening of Dec. 18. The meet is to be open only to Harvard, Newton and Technology athletes. The events, all handicap, will be: running high jump, three standing jumps; putting the shot, 15 yards dash, and potato race (scratch). There will also be a parallel bar competition, and a couple of wrestling bouts. Entries close Dec. 16 with Manager Graham. The entry-fee is 25 cents...

Astronomy does not hold the place it once had among the subjects considered essential to a liberal education. No "popular" course in it is given. This is not to be regretted, for it is certainly no loss to the science that the "popular" and superficial teaching of it has been dropped, with many of the other fixtures of the old curricula. ...Reform Association will probably soon be organized in the university. An informal meeting was recently held to discuss the advisability of the scheme and it seemed that such an organization would be a most useful addition to Yale's working force. The association, if formed, will not try to hold regular meetings, but will have them occasionally and will introduce several speakers prominent in the movement. An open meeting will be held next Wednesday, when informal addresses will be made by members of the faculty and measures effected toward the formation of a permanent organization...
