...refusal of the Yale Yacht Club to sail a Harvard-Yale regatta at Newport in June may be justified by the lateness of Yale's Commencement; but it could not be much more of a concession on the part of the Yale Yacht Club to hold the regatta there in spite of this drawback, than for the Harvard Yacht Club to go around Cape Cod, if it were only to Newport. ...mentioned are much interested in reviving the old cup and have subscribed toward a piece of plate on which are to be engraved the names of all the winning crews (as winners of the Beacon Cup) from 1874 to 1897. The plate is an octagonal platter, large enough to hold all the names of the winning crews in the past and still leave room for the winners for twenty years to come. In the centre of the plate will be the following inscription...
