Died. Harry Anslinger, 83, single-minded head of the Treasury Department's Bureau of Narcotics from its creation in 1930 until he retired in 1962; in Hollidaysburg, Pa. Convinced that "all dope" from marijuana to morphine was dangerous, the bullnecked, bald Anslinger wanted to "get rid of drugs, pushers, and users. Period."
