1:51 a.m.—An officer was sent to Hollis Hall after receiving a report that a fallen branch was blocking the walkway. The officer notified Facilities Maintenance Operations, which cleaned up the tree limb.
In addition to the new search functions, the new HOLLIS will allow users to look up their accounts and see what books they have checked out, when the books are due and whether or not they owe any fines.
HOLLIS is “one of the largest financial systems at Harvard,” tracking fines and billing for the whole library system, said Peter Kosewski, director of publications and communications in the University Library.
In addition, new technology allows HOLLIS to be more easily updated than the previous system, which was “not malleable,” according to Verba.
“Bugs here and there are inevitable in a new system,” he said. But so far no problems have been reported in the new HOLLIS.
