...executive director, "the first mile is free." Physicist Robert Goddard developed modern rocketry here in the 1930s; in 1947, a mysterious object crashed to earth outside Roswell, making the town synonymous with UFO conspiracy theories. Thanks to the restricted airspace over the neighboring White Sands Missile Range and Holloman Air Force Base, there's also hardly any commercial air traffic. (Watch an interview with Branson...

Which is correct. The problem is, those aspects of the show that are not about lesbianism are tedious, and those that are, are predictable. There are museum director Bette (Jennifer Beals) and her partner Tina (Laurel Holloman), trying to conceive a child with donated sperm. There are the straights next door, Tim (Eric Mabius) and Jenny (Mia Kirshner), whose engagement is threatened when she falls for another woman. Cody McMains is a delight as Ava's 12-year old, punk-haired boyfriend, and up-and-comer Laurel Holloman matches McTeer's spunk as a close friend of Mary Jo. Thirteen additional F-117A Stealth fighters left Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico for Italy over the weekend. It's not a fun flight: the jets will have to refuel in air 18 times during the 14-hour journey. Stealth target lists include dozens of deeply buried bunkers in and around Belgrade. Though the Serbs are gloating that these Tito-era nuclear-bomb shelters are impregnable, they may be in for a surprise: the Nighthawks are specially trained for such missions. Navy F-18s from the carrier U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt are expected to see action. And the U.S. Army...

Marilyn hardly seemed destined to make history. Unlike other chimpanzees kept at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico during the 1960s and '70s to study the effects of space travel--like Ham, the first primate in orbit--she never made it off the ground. Instead she did her duty as a breeder, a friendly, easily handled chimp mom who gave birth at least a dozen times before her untimely death...
