After their three days of talks with Israeli Premier Golda Meir, Richard Nixon and his aides could only be impressed by her single-mindedness. She came to Washington to seek jets and arms, but not peace through compromise. Outwardly, the Premier is the archetypical, haimisheh (homey) Jewish grandma. In fact, as she amply demonstrated on her visit, Golda Meir is among the toughest, ablest and most zealous Zionists who ever lived. She repeatedly discounted all U.S.-Soviet efforts to find a solution to the dangerous Mideast crisis...

South Viet Nam's malleable Parliament had set the stage for Huong's removalby claiming that his economic and anticorruption policies were ineffective. To be sure, Huong was an indifferent administrator, a homey type who grows roses and readily admits: "I have never been a revolutionary." Moreover, he is aging (66) and ailing (asthma, rheumatism). Huong's personal shortcomings were not, however, what brought about his dismissal. Thieu, who had not bothered to consult his Premier about major issues for months, apparently wanted a man in whom he had complete confidence to help him through the next...

The addition of a sort of light show-cyclorama, beautiful as it may be in the abstract works largely to complement the confusion...

Whatever the eventual figures, the new House is not likely to be a homey place-for anybody. In all likelihood Democrats will bear the responsibility for running a House over which they will have little real control. The Republicans will probably elect more Representatives than at any time since the 33rd Congress (1953-54), when they had a majority in the House. But they are unlikely to elect enough to win formal control. Thus, aging Massachusetts Democrat John McCormack, 76 is likely to be elected to a fifth term as Speaker, and Michigan Republican Gerald Ford, 55, will probably...

Truc has by far the most exciting collection of posters around, ranging from fifty cents to fifty dollars. It has everything from homey "You don't have to be Jewish to Love Levy's" posters, and original Klee posters for his own exhibitions, to Paris street posters and Polish circus posters...
