...Frischmann's songs are less lighthearted than they were five years ago. On Car Song, a cut off the first album, she sang, "In every little Honda/ There may lurk a Peter Fonda." Now when she sings, "Baby put your arms around me/ Aren't you glad that you have found me?" on the cacophonous Generator, she sounds like she knows what it is to feel undesirable. Elastica 2000 may not be as witty as Elastica 1995, but Frischmann's new vulnerability is winning enough to fend off VH1 has-been status for at least another five years...

GREEN MILE So far, Honda has sold only 2,000 Insights, the first hybrid gas-electric car to hit U.S. roads. But it seems to have found an unexpected fan base: politicians. Since the $18,880, two-seat 70 m.p.g. runabout became available in December, it has been snapped up by Austin, Texas, Mayor Kirk Watson (who traded in a Chevy Tahoe), San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, Utah Senator Bob Bennett and Maine Governor Angus King. It must be a more painless way of pulling in the green vote than Sierra Club dinners...

Forensic experts found his fingerprint on one of the plastic bags tied around a victim's head, and Yates' genetic profile, from blood drawn after his arrest, matched semen found on the corpses.
