Last, but certainly not least, there has been a widely publicized feud between the head honcho of the Summer School—Dean of Continuing Education and Extension Michael Shinagel—and a certain Summer School faculty member, Professor Hue Briss. Apparently, Dr. Briss had been taking his students to Red Sox games instead of holding class. Shinagel summoned him to a meeting where it was suggested that perhaps doing one’s job is the best way of doing one’s job. This month Bangkok Airways is launching its Mekong World Heritage Tour, linking Sukhothai with the unesco-listed sites of Luang Prabang in Laos, the ancient Vietnamese capital of Hue and the Khmer ruins of Angkor in Cambodia. Travelers can visit all four sites in eight days for about $1,000 including hotels. Or they can purchase individual flights for a customized itinerary. A quick flight to Ubon Ratchathani province in the country's far east will bring you within a few hours' drive of the hills where Laos and Cambodia abut the Land of Smiles. At the moment there isn't much to see except trees. But the Tourism Authority of Thailand envisions a 600-hectare-plus zone spanning the three countries, featuring resort towns, handicrafts, botanical gardens...
...commented on some of the frustration I experience when trying to shop for make-up products because cosmetics lines rarely, if ever, cater to my skin tone. Though I haven’t got the willpower to make most cosmetic trends a reality even if they did include my hue in their palate, I’ve come to expect that ads and how-to’s will feature great products and tips for everyone who is lighter than, say, a paper bag. After just about a year of mindless investigation into the highs and lows of Glamour magazine...
