Obviously there are still deep underlying trends, indicative of seismic- scale cultural drift. Assisted suicide, for example. Abandoning the elderly in their wheelchairs. Intergenerational downward mobility. But these are not the kind of things one would want to see spread around the world like Hula Hoops, stamped MADE IN THE U.S.A.
