With that formal admonition, the Master of Lowell House dismissed the problem of snowballs and broken windows for another winter. If some House members thought they detected a glint of humor beneath the stern formality, Perkins probably would not dispute it. For twelve years he has guided Lowell House with a light but firm hand, and likes the results. House members share his satisfaction...
What faults the play does have are due in the main to its unnaturally restricted setting. With no comic maids, noisy children, or boisterous relatives to lives things up, dc Hartog has attempted to provide a touch of raucous humor by a truly banal bit of stage trickery--a raised platform around the bed over which either one or both of the characters is prone to stumble in moments of passion or tenderness. This sort of thing is good for a yuk the first time, but after the third repetition even the fellers and gals of the John Hancock Life...

Among the winners: Comic Jerry Lewis as "the worst comedian of all time," who gave the year's "worst performance" in Jumping Jacks, the year's "worst picture"; his partner Dean Martin for the "worst supporting performance"; and Cinemactress Marilyn Monroe for the year's "worst female performance" in the movie Niagara...

The choice of Jerry Lewis as the "Worst Comedian of All Time" shows indisputable logic. Undeniable also is the "Most Unattractive Connation" of "She's Working Her Way Through College." The only slight revision I would make is to put "Million Dollar Mermaid" in a class by itself. Buried in the "Ten Worst," the film unjustly loses some of its awfulness...
