...November 27 editorial, "Demon's Humorless Antics," Justin C. Danilewitz faults a recent piece in Demon, written by Matthew A. Greenbaum '00, for its reference to "Schindler's List." Danilewitz writes that Greenbaum's fiction piece, which satirizes the Crimson Key Society at one point by showing the organization making jokes about "Schindler's List," is guilty of "question[ing]" the "tragedy" and "seriousness" of the Holocaust. Danilewitz goes so far as to say, "It is a sad testimonial to the legacy of our First Amendment that such material is considered to be imbued with enough expressive value...

Wrong and dull, O wise one. And lugubrious. And sloppily written. And humorless. Not a laugh in a carload. Somebody send author Hoeg a Fawlty Towers tape! Somebody hit that ape in the kisser with a custard pie! And in your shiny fur, is that a flea I see--that Hoeg, in his solemnity, has missed...

I have to say that not only do I agree with Mr. Kirtley's assessment of the Ad-Board as "biased" and "humorless," I think we, the students, should do something about this trampling of one of our colleague's First Amendment rights...

...Dear Mr. Sidey, My must reading includes every week your perceptive and brilliant columns ... However, I wonder if you really are portraying an accurate picture of this man? From your columns I would get the impression that he was introverted, humorless, rather plotting [sic] and not particularly exciting in his conduct of the Presidency ... I think for your own credibility you ought to correct the image you have left. I don't mean that I like him (frankly I would have to classify myself as a Lindsey [sic] Republican ...) I feel this so strongly, because I detest Vice President Agnew...
