...DEPARTMENT of "Notes and Queries" has just been started at the Library. The queries are written on slips, and hung on books provided for the purpose, and any one is at liberty to answer them. The idea has become very popular, and will probably be useful, though to judge from the queries, their authors might easily have found the answers on their own hook, without having recourse to the hooks of the Library...

THOSE of us who live in Weld, or are in the habit of paying frequent visits to that hall after dark, will appreciate the Bursar's kindness in promising to place a gas lantern in the portico between the two entry doors. Such a lantern hung there a few years ago, but was removed because of the malicious damage done it by the students. We hope all will recognize the utility of lighting that dark corner too much to give again a pretext for taking it away. The Weld entries are proverbially uncomfortable, on account of both the darkness...

...difficulty of showing engravings and illustrations to the class is very great. This leads to another idea. There is no reason why the recitation-rooms should not be made attractive. If rope-matting be out of the question, why should not appropriate pictures and maps, at least, be hung upon the walls? Diagrams, plans, and models in the scientific lecture-rooms would be a constant instruction through the eye; pictures and bronzes in the classical and fine arts rooms would be both useful and ornamental ; or at least they could be finished so that pictures and statuary, should the future...
