...squad, but did not take part in the scrimmage; his reappearance as a candidate greatly increases the chances for a strong backfield. An accident, however, that has been feared for sometime and will indirectly weaken the team, occurred yesterday when Daly's leg was injured. The extent of the hurt is not yet known, but should it prove great, it will leave the eleven without a suitable substitute for the quarterback position. Graydon was again used in the line-up, but only for a short time...
...have been playing regularly on the University eleven of late took no active part in the practice yesterday; Barnard and A. Marshall were the only ones who played in the line-up against the second team. Several of the candidates who have been sick or hurt, however, were on the field and engaged in the scrimmage, though only for a short time. Graydon was again in his old position at fullback. Tenney and Meier were the only other backs who were not allowed to play. Both are a trifle lame and will be given a chance to rest. Burgess is recovering...
Several prominent players were absent from the practice yesterday. Kernan was hurt last Monday and though the injury, which is in his knee, is not at all serious, he will be kept out of the practice until he is quite recovered. Barnard is not yet playing again, and Leatherbee stayed away yesterday on account of a lame back. Hurley is sick, but is expected out in a day or two and will then be tried at quarterback; for besides Marshall there is no suitable man for that position in case Daly is again injured. Clark was out for the first...
