...auction prices for a Playstation 2 unit are now about even with the actual retail price ($350 on ebay vs. $300 at a retail store), you can begin to realistically think about whether to get one or not. Behind the hype, here are some practical considerations for Playstation 1 owners and non-owners alike...

...biggest problem was that, after all the hype, Fox delivered a sluggishly paced show padded with filler (including two previews of coming episodes) and lacking salacious details, human interest and much of anything else. Not only did no one cheat on anyone last night, the "scandalous" previews of future weeks seemed mostly to consist of cheesy, mildly sexy cruise-ship-mixer games - licking booze off someone's stomach and so on - that were about as outré as a wedding-reception garter toss...

...During the late 1990s, I and many other devotees were irritated by the fact that Thalía, and a host of other extremely talented and charismatic performers, barely rated a mention in the hype that surrounded the so-called "Latin invasion" of American pop. Craig is to be applauded for doing this...

...would do well, however, to be somewhat wary of this bloated hype. For all the talk of the scandal, indignation and adoration that this world-weary little man has produced, there has been a curious lack of commentary upon the quality of his prose and his philosophy. This is indeed to Houellebecq's advantage, as his novel gives the avant-gardes a bad name. Beneath its glossy veneer of scandal, The Elementary Particles is an amazingly shallow and silly read. Filled with poorly realized characters, indifferent writing and ludicrous leaps of logic, the novel will not leave you pondering...
