During the recess the 'Varsity Crew candidates have been out on the Charles twice a day either in pair oars under the eye of Faulkner, to get watermanship, or in the shell to get unity while Coach Mumford has given pointers on the inboard work. At present there are only 8 men with the crew, as Stillman has stopped rowing, but they will soon be joined by men from the class crews. ...bury their oars by swinging on with the shoulders instead of raising the hands at the full reach. This brings the power at the beginning of the stroke instead of when the legs go on. They also rush their slides and the last part of the recover. Time inboard is fairly good, but outboard it is rather ragged. The crew will probably go on the river some time next week...
