Standing before M.I.T. Grad I. M. Pei's radar-domed earth science building, Calder's sculpture has both primitive power and modern grace. Its presence is courtesy of Eugene McDermott, a director of Texas Instruments Inc., who was a college classmate of Calder. But the selection came only after a number of sculptors-including David Smith, Richard Lippold and Jean Arp -were considered. Scholars at M.I.T. tested the Calder design in a wind tunnel, then they buried beneath it a time capsule that included a Betty Crocker cookbook, a Sears, Roebuck catalogue, 1964 coins, M.I.T. memorabilia...

...Great Society finally has has found a genre worthy of it. Pocket Books, Inc. has published The Great Society Comic Book, coauthored by D.J. Arneson and Tony Tallarico. Featuring such greats as Bobman and Teddy, Gaullefinger, and Superlbj, it is worth approximately seven of the ten minutes it takes to read it. Ideologically wrong, of course, but it only costs a dollar. And the battle between Wonderbird and Chefman is an historical document...

During last week's oral arguments, Lawyer Nixon readily agreed that LIFE has a reputation for checking its facts carefully. In this case, though, he charged the magazine with "reckless disregard for the plaintiff's rights" and "fictionalization for the purpose of profit." Time Inc. Lawyer Harold Medina Jr. pointed out the many similarities between the Hill incident and the Hilliard play, and argued: "This is a nondefamatory article. We said the family were heroes."
