The film critics in that town, who often address their reviews to moot points raised by colleagues, frequently succumb to sinful postures, not the worst of which is seeing one-self as cosmic arbiter of good taste. If the audiences which attended the critics' showings are any index of the stance which such enlightened viewers take towards movies, then most modern films are being scrutinized through rose-tinted glasses, darkly.
