...Index for 1897-98 was put on sale night before last. It is an improvement over last year's number in that it is less clogged and defaced with advertisements, and rather better arranged. Thirteen new clubs appear, among them the Golf Club, the Central New York Club, the Shooting Club, the Phi Delta Psi Society, the Fencing Club and others. As against these there are twelve clubs which, because of inactivity, do not appear; such for instance as the Free Silver Club, and the Peripatetic Club...

...glad to be able to show by the communication of the Photographic Committee that the holder of the copyright on the Portfolio, who possesses similar rights on the Index and Club Book, has voluntarily taken a step toward returning these publications to the direct control of the undergraduates. It is to be hoped that before long the other publications will again become undergraduate in their nature...

...recent action of the Photographic Committee of the Senior Class in taking into its own hands the publication of a book similar to the former "Portfolio" is a very commendable step. The Photographic Committee of the class of Ninety-eight has put an end to the same practice of renting the "Portfolio." Though the same rental is still paid the benefit now goes to the class and not to an unscrupulous person who had no right...

There is yet another publication which fills no distinot place whatever and which is run much on the same plan as were the "Index" and the "Portfolio"- the "Club Book." There seems to be no way of supplanting this publication except by including in the book to be published under the auspices of the Senior class all that is now contained in the "Club Book," and by a refusal on the part of every undergraduate to have anything to do with the publication of that book. By doing this the representative college publications will receive a more hearty support...
