...Larsson's book. (It's also the first of a franchise; cinematic adaptations of Larsson's two sequels were also released in Europe last year.) The basics are there: a disgraced journalist named Mikael Blomkvist (played just right by Swedish star Michael Nyqvist) is hired by an elderly industrialist, Henrik Vanger (Sven-Bertil Taube), to investigate the disappearance of his 16-year old niece Harriet 40 years ago on a remote island. Henrik believes Harriet was killed by a member of her large and thoroughly nasty family and he wants Blomkvist to figure out whodunit. Salander ends up helping Blomkvist...

...latest round in the familial slugfest began when 29-year-old Borja, who was adopted by Heinrich Thyssen when the Dutch-born Swiss industrialist married Borja's mother, showed up with a notary at the Madrid museum in early November and filed notice that he was reclaiming two paintings. "They have worked very hard to create the impression that this is like a freight train, and if you want to stand in front of it, you'll get run over," Gary Reback, an antitrust attorney who penned the legal brief...

It was established by the Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel to be administered in Norway, and it should thus come as no shock that the prize recipients may reflect the political leanings of that country. After all, the winners are determined by the Norwegian Nobel Committee (appointed by the Norwegian Parliament), which reviews nominations and makes a decision based on recommendations from...

AHMEDABAD, India – In early September, the Indian Supreme Court is expected to rule on a gas-agreement dispute brought forth by India’s third richest industrialist, Anil Ambani—against India’s richest, Ambani’s own brother, Mukesh. The two businessmen now independently run what was once India’s largest industrial conglomerate, Reliance Industries, divided between the quarreling heirs after the death of the family and company patriarch, Dhirubhai Ambani. In a country ostensibly rooted in deep extended-family relations, the partitioning of Reliance and the Ambani family?...
