...many high-energy combinations that would start reacting as soon as they came in contact. Hybrids have no such difficulty. Their fuel can be hopped up with a high proportion of high-energy powdered metals or metallic hydrides, but in the absence of an oxidizer, they remain as inert as an auto tire. The oxidizer may be a fiercely reactive fluid such as OF2 (oxygen difluoride), but since it stays in its own tank until needed, it behaves itself. When the two components come together, they burn with extremely high specific impulse, the measure of rocket power. Best...

...Cards ended it quickly in the tenth. Bill White worked reliefer Pete Mikkelson for a walk; then slugger Ken Boyer laid down a bunt between the mound and first base, and beat it out easily as Mikkelson and Joe Pepitone stood inert and watched it roll. After the Yankees botched a pick-off play on White, McCarver hit his blast into the lower right field stands...

Hong Kong Queues. The design of an IUCD, however, seems hardly to matter. Nor does the nature of the material, provided only that it is inert enough to cause little or no reaction in the woman's tissues. Several IUCDS are flexible, such as those of plastic (a special polyethylene), silk or nylon thread, and can usually be inserted without dilatation of the cervix. Even so, insertion must be done by a doctor, and preferably by a specialist in gynecology. Insertion of a metal ring, with dilatation of the cervix, definitely calls for specialized skill...
