Holy Cross defeated Yale last Saturday 2 to 1. The team boasts a steady and reliable pitcher in Donnellan, a well-trained infield, and a trio of outfielders of more than average hitting prowess. Norton, the shortstop, is one of the most brilliant players in college baseball, while Bowen, in center field, has done the bulk of the nine's spectacular work...

Mahan and Garritt each showed great form, together holding the World's Champions to five scattered hits. The University infield supplied all the thrills for the afternoon, and Coolidge, with a single and a double, out of two trips to the plate, was the star...

Captain H. L. Nash '16 will unquestionably be at first base, for his playing has been consistent and brilliant. Second base will be filled by G. E. Abbot '17, who did so well at this position last year. These two players are the main strength of the infield. The other infield positions will not be so easy to fill, for no two men have yet appeared who could be said to have cinched shortstop and third base. Coach Mitchell may draw from H. S. Bothwell '17, F. G. Fripp '16, C. L. Harrison '18, W. J. Murray...

The infield will be complete except for third base, a place left vacant by the graduation of H. R. Hardwick '15. The outfield will only have two regular outfielders, F. P. Coolidge '16 and F. G. Fripp '16. Fripp did not report for practice yesterday because of trouble-with his knees. He is expected back in a short time, however. Another valuable man who is not out regularly...

With the return of seven "H" men, all of whom were regulars on last year's team, the outlook for the season is very promising. In the infield, every position will be taken by a veteran except for third base, which is left vacant by the graduation of H. R. Hardwick '15. Prospects in the outfield, however, are less bright, as there are only two regular outfielders left in college, F. P. Coolidge '16 and F. G. Fripp '16. The other regulars were lost by graduation last June...
