...account of every game our nine has played this year. The grounds were abominable. In left field and in left centre especially the field sloped down so that the fielders were almost out of sight when they chased long hits. The bad work of the nine in the infield is partly explained by the hummocks among which the balls rolled. But the nine cannot be considered to have done its best under difficulties. In the sixth inning the men seemed to lose their heads, and four runs came in on a two base hit and a scratch. The redeeming feature...

...plate becomes a necessity, and it is idle to say that it "is not to be thought of;" it must be made, and yesterday a candidate for one of the class nines found this out, very much to his cost, He was trying to make home on a short infield hit, and to do so a slide was absolutely necessary. Parks led off for Worcester in the second inning with a two-bagger to left field. Moore was hit by a pitched ball. It looked as if Worcester would score, but Lezott struck out, McGrath fouled out to Trafford, and Hayes went out on an infield grounder. Murphy, who had previously been umpiring, now amiably exchanged places with Sullivan, who had been pitching, and Harvard men went out in one, two, three order...

Boston started out in the first inning at a rapid pace. Long hit safely to right and came home on a passed ball, an error by Howe, and Sullivan's fine hit to centre. Brodie flied out. Stovey hit a grounder to the infield and got around to second on an attempt to retire Long at third. Sullivan's hit brought him home also. Quinn followed Sullivan with a long fly to right. Frothingham caught it prettily and made a fine throw to first, retiring Sullivan before he could get back. For Harvard Dean and Hallowell flied out, and Hovey...
