...nine has been watched with the deepest interest during the past week and from its good showing in practice such a complete victory by Princeton was unexpected. It was hardly hoped that the team would win the game at Princeton, but the poor work done by the infield and the weak batting were disappointing. It is expected that a great change will be felt in the whole team should the work behind the bat be bettered. This will be done for next Saturday's game by putting in Thorne, should his injured finger allow him to play...

Haughton's pitching was a very easy mark for the Newton men who batted safely almost whenever they pleased. His support was exceptionally poor in every respect. The whole infield fumbled and threw poorly on almost every opportunity, and were only saved from more errors by several lucky plays. Scannell's catching was much inferior to that of Draper, and was rather careless at times. Goodridge struck out, Abbott hit for two bases and got third on Foster's hit to pitcher, while Foster was safe on first; he stole second and took third on Abram's hit to the infield, but Abbott was out at the plate. Kimball struck out, but Davis let the ball by him, and Foster and Abrams scored. Sterling struck out. In the second inning Ninety-nine made six runs on two bases on balls, an error by Abrams, and hits by Sherwin, Mains, Morse and Davis...

...first game of the interclass series. The Sophomores have only one man, Goodridge, the captain, who played on the team last year. Most of last year's nine are either with the 'Varsity or College Nine. The College nine, especially, deprives '98 of many valuable players, as its infield is composed entirely of '98 men. The Freshmen have a good battery and are fielding well. Their batting is also good, which is due in great part to Garrison's careful and systematic coaching. Mason will umpire the game. The batting order of the teams...
