"Woodbine Willie" personally gave away 8,750,000 Woodbine cigarets to soldiers. As one of 15 Court Chaplains he preached to King George V at Buckingham Palace. She was born in St. Helier, Isle of Jersey, the daughter of the very Reverend Dean of the Isle. She had six brothers. To the island, in a tempest, came Irish yachtsman Edward Langtry, son of a Belfast ship-merchant.
