Using an estimate from Lawrence B. Lindsey, until December the Director of the National Economic Council, that the war could cost up to $200 billion, HIPJ’s e-mail suggests that money could be better spent “conserv[ing] the environment.” How appropriate, coming from the group that tried to tree-hug the Taliban out of existence. (Does anyone else remember HIPJ’s farcical “We are all children of the earth” protest against war in Afghanistan that took place on the steps of Widener Library...

...tiny studio in the attic, Raymzter is putting the finishing touches on his debut album, Rayalistisch (a pun combining his stage name and the Dutch word for realistic), which is out next month. The disc will feature Raymzter's hugely successful and controversial first single, K__ Marokkanen (F___ing Moroccans), a biting commentary on white Dutch attitudes toward young Moroccans following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks (sample lyric: "They look at me as if I flew into the Twin Towers"). ...sense of purpose meals provide. Eating gives me something to do. The closest I come to cheating happens one afternoon in the spa while undergoing a papaya body-wrap treat-ment. As I lie mari-nating in the pulpy, orange goop, I realize that with a little bend-ing, I could eat the for-bidden fruit slathered on my shoulder. I resist. I'm not hungry, only bored...

...technically demanding pieces are artistic in their own right. The Patsy Kline piece, choreographed by Liz M. Santoro ’01, is a soulful medley full of love-lost woe humorously exaggerated with over-the-top swoons and emphatic shoves. At one point in the medley, Kristin E. Ing, a student at the Graduate School of Education, performs to Kline’s “She Got You” in a solo for which the non-standard vocal music in the background makes the emotion of the dance even more potent...
