President Vladimir Putin's use of a sedative gas to end the tragic siege of the Moscow theater was disgraceful and inhuman [WORLD, Nov. 11]. For the sake of the hostages, the Russian authorities should have kept talking to the Chechen rebels, to the point of agreeing to their demands, even if promises would later be broken.
