The Puerto Rican students were asked to suggest candidates for a part-time admissions position that would be concerned with Puerto Rican admissions and recruitment. Several candidates were recommended, but the recommended were ignored in favour of a candidate hand-picked by L. Fred Jewett '57, dean of admissions and financial aid, who did not even have to go through the normal application process...
