This hardly seems to solve the problem. The Varsity letter in itself is a big incentive and a big reward for playing on major sport teams. Its value is not enchanted by also bringing with it the membership in the Varsity Club. The insignia awarded for minor sports is, after all valuable in a much lesser degree. There are few who go out for minor sports to win the insignia as an honor to be worn. The incentive is more in the abstract honor of being on the team and in getting the exercise.
