What remains to be seen is whether Bucher and Harris, both career officers, will have any future in the service. Officials insist that they can think of no reason why they should not. Yet few old hands in Washington or the Navy think the two have very good long-term prospects. For the time being, Bucher and Harris received relatively unglamorous assignments-but it was said that they had requested them. Bucher will attend a management course in Monterey, Calif., leading to a master's degree; Harris will assume duties at Naval Security headquarters in Washington. The Navy hopes...

When Nasser came to power in 1952, he used to insist that any renewal of war with Israel would detract from his most important task, raising the standard of living of his people. "In Egypt today," he complained at the time, "a water buffalo is more valuable than a human being. I mean, it costs more to hire a water buffalo for a day's work than it does to hire a fellah." ...STUDENTS today want their legal education combined with a different life style, students tomorrow will insist on it. Many professors are convinced that next year's first-year class will be even harder to handle and satisfy than this year's bunch--although others have somehow convinced themselves that students who would disrupt than sanctity of the Law School with a study-in must be freakish and transient aberrations. The Committee majority report, although extremely tentative and minimally responsive to the student demands, makes clear that further reform is on the way. It recognizes that the proposals that will...

...first return there in a number of years. I was ashamed for him to see the sleazy characters who were wandering around the Yard. However, I would not have one lock of their greasy looking, long hair shorn by edict nor force them near a drop of water nor insist that they wear perfume. But I certainly cannot say that I was proud of the outward appearance of the old Alma Mater as far as its students were concerned...
