Democrats too have ideas about how to galvanize their base. "Intel and Yahoo! are introducing technology that will allow every DVR to record video from a website the way it records ESPN," says Rosenberg. He imagines a world in which Hillary Clinton would post a daily video message with an accompanying e-mail alert to the folks on Demzilla reminding them to set their TiVos. "So Hillary's now speaking to millions of people with no intermediary and no overhead." While managing Howard Dean's campaign, Joe Trippi used the 650,000 people who registered on Dean's website...
...might have been the star last week, but the introduction of an Intel-based Mini and the updated Bonjour networking software have made Apple's home-theater aspirations a little clearer. Apple has two desktop lines and one laptop line that can be operated with remote controls, and that - according to my tests - are able to effortlessly access each other's music and video files. Now the company is hinting that perhaps one of these remote-controlled Macs should live next to your...
They do, however, have diagrams that they believe show components of a nuclear bomb. According to a Western diplomat familiar with the U.S. intel brief, a Farsi-language PowerPoint presentation on the laptop has "catchy graphics," including diagrams of a hollow metallic sphere 2 ft. in diameter and weighing about 440 lbs. Other documents show a sphere-shaped array of tiny detonators. No file specifically refers to a nuclear bomb, but U.S. officials say the design of the sphere--an outer shell studded with small chemical-explosive charges meant to detonate inward, which would squeeze an inner core of material...
...easy to talk specs and features, but the MacBook's strengths come to light while in use. Apple was smart to skip over development of a G5 notebook, and go right to the Intel Core Duo. It's not easy to watch the highest-definition QuickTime movie trailers on a G4 PowerBook, and on many Centrino-based Windows notebooks, it can look pretty choppy, too. But on the MacBook Pro, 1080p movie trailers are smooth running...
...only concern about the transition to Intel-based systems - the iMac, the MacBook Pro and the newly announced Core Duo Mac Mini - has to do with hard disks. If you boot up using an external drive, as many Mac users often do, you have to reformat that external drive to have something called a "GUID partition," otherwise the computer will simply not recognize it as a boot disk. The other disk issue I have had in the last few weeks regards DiskWarrior. The hallowed saviour of Mac-formatted disks since time immemorial doesn't run on the new systems...
