Experimentation is one thing. Felony possession of four controlled substances with intent to distribute, within a drug-free zone, is another matter entirely. While HUPD is there to help Harvard students, it is also obliged to enforce the law, and ignoring a felony drug operation would go far beyond the "benign neglect" referred to by Mr. Aibel. There is a point at which the actions of individual students may threaten the security of the community, and at that point it is the responsibility of the police to act. The police have encountered safety problems with students under the unlawful influence...

...they are bought, sold and used by some of the nation's finest college students. This reality was confirmed on April 10 when two Currier House seniors, Stephen V. David '96 and William A. Blankenship '96, were arrested for allegedly possessing marijuana, hallucinogenic mushrooms, LSD and "ecstasy" with intent to distribute. In his column of April 23, "Ignoring Internal Decay," Joshua Kaufman offers several arguments condemning drug users and drug dealers. Ever since he returned to basketball a year ago, Jordan has been intent on winning back the championship. Williams, who almost signed with the Bulls before re-upping--much to his regret--with the Nets, says, "After last season Michael said to me, 'Come play for the Bulls, pull down eight to 10 rebounds a night, and I'll get you two championship rings.' At the time I thought, 'Who's spiking his Yoo-Hoo?' How was I supposed to know? I go out to Chicago, take the psychological test and while I'm trying to decide, they sign Dennis...
