Although North has yet to tell his story to any Iranscam investigators, his memorandums are eloquent testimony to the fantastic nature of his activities. Those efforts were both macro and micro: he supervised the raising of millions of dollars in funds from South Korea and Taiwan while organizing numerous drops of munitions in Nicaragua. A hand-drawn chart that was found in North's office safe shows the complex path of money from private fund-raising organizations to various shadowy corporations. Poindexter's indulgence of North was a principal reason the Iran-contra affair went so badly astray, according to the Tower commission. David Letterman joked about her, the New York Post dubbed her "Iranscam Beauty," and pictures from her modeling days flashed across the network news shows. Said Hall: "One of my friends told me Andy Warhol said everyone will be famous for 15 minutes. I kind...

No fewer than four independent counsel -- formerly known as special prosecutors -- are conducting probes of alleged misdeeds by current and former Administration officials, most notably the Iranscam investigation led by Lawrence E. Walsh. But last week a pair of challenges cast doubt on the legal validity of those efforts...
