The President is now (finally) open to new options as he seeks to craft “a new way forward.” Whether the White House will listen to the ISG report and other suggestions remains to be seen, but at least debate on the topic is unfolding...

...present strategy—it is nonetheless undermined by several critical flaws. The report deserves consideration, but ultimately Bush should not adopt its call for a set date for leaving Iraq. A “new way forward” must indeed be found in Iraq, but the ISG report doesn’t fit the bill...
