...part, real estate developer Khan still has faith in the seemingly inexhaustible ability of Dubai developers to wow the world. "Who ever thought you could build a palm island?" he says. "You can never imagine the things they'll come up with next." In fact, if prices come down a little more, he's thinking of buying a few properties of his own, perhaps a villa for when he grows older and starts a family. "My grandfather had a saying: Land will never let you down." That's a maxim that could be severely tested - even in Dubai...
...beautiful game often cruelly flatters to deceive. In a sport in which even the slightest error becomes terrifically magnified, a team that shows the spirit and offensive prowess to truly knock back its opponent can often be punished for that very same tenacity. At the University of Rhode Island (URI) Soccer Complex last night, the Harvard men’s soccer team (2-2) was that squad.Ninety-one minutes of attacking verve—replete with 65-percent possession and 14 total shots—came undone in the second minute of the extra period when URI substitute forward Erkko Puranen...

Harvard (2-1-0, 0-0 Ivy) takes on the Rams (2-2-0) at 5 p.m. in Kingston, R.I., hoping to continue building momentum before Ivy League play begins. The last two meetings between the teams have been close, with last year’s game providing riveting action...
...Brazoria County had an open date and offered to reschedule them. We're sure their honeymoon, a cruise out of Galveston leaving Monday, will be canceled. So far, the cruise company is holding out hope that the port might be open. But looking at the pictures from the island, which people say smells like a lumber yard due to the destruction, it's hard to believe anything there will be open tomorrow. There's no phone service, no water and no power over much of the place. But I have no doubt the city will rebuild better than ever...
