The chief subjects of his geographic investigations were the elevated shore lines of the Caspian Sea, the extensive river-plains of central Turkestan, and the terraces and glacial deposits among the western ranges of the Tian Shan mountain system. The furthest point reached by Professor Davis was Lake Issikkul in North-Eastern Turkestan, whence he returned through Western Siberia and St. Petersburg.
