...years Wagner's Dutchman has been missing from the repertoire of Manhattan's Metropolitan Opera Company, but last week it was revived with Baritone Friedrich Schorr as the Dutchman. A famed Norwegian basso, Ivar Andresen, made his debut as the Norwegian Daland, capably acted the jovial sailor but disappointed with singing which, according to persons who had heard him in Europe, was below his standard. Hans Clemens, newcomer from Berlin, sang the minor role of a steersman and disproved the theory that there are no good German tenors. Soprano Maria Jeritza apparently believed in the hallucinations of Senta, lifted high...

Chairman of General Telephone & Electric's executive committee will be Elisha Walker, Chairman of Transamerica's executive committee. Last week he expounded the reasons that make this deal logical, reasons realized by Ivar Kreuger when he bought into Ericcson Telephone, a similar deal. We may anticipate, I believe, a continuing development in telephonic communications overseas...

No surprise was this statement for in December 1928, Ivar Kreuger's $350,000,000 Swedish Match Trust served formal notice upon Diamond that the agreement would not be extended. Yet the approach of the actual termination has made more vivid the question of who will soon be supplying the U. S. with strike-on-the-box matches.* Diamond has made a few, hints...
Kreuger in Ericsson. Undoubtedly most famed of Swedish companies is Ivar Kreuger's Kreuger & Toll Co., holding company for Swedish match, international banks, large mines. But a close second is L. M. Ericsson Telephone Co. which wages successful battle against German's Siemens & Halske on one hand, International Telephone & Telegraph Corp. on the other. Good news in Sweden last week was the announcement that Ivar Kreuger has obtained a large block of Ericsson stock, that Kreuger & Toll will direct its many activities. Foiled apparently by the deal was I. T. & T., recently reported angling for Ericsson, and against...
